Tickets are now on sale for the Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of the George Bernard Shaw classic Mrs. Warren’s Profession. Directed by Doug Hughes, the production stars Tony and Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones in the title role, and begins previews at the American Airlines Theatre on September 3 in anticipation of an October 3 opening.
In addition to Jones, Mrs. Warren’s Profession stars Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky), Adam Driver, Mark Harelik, Edward Hibbert and Michael Siberry.
In Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Kitty Warren (Jones) must make a terrible sacrifice for her daughter Vivie’s (Hawkins) independence. The clash of these two strong-willed but culturally constrained women is the spark that ignites the ironic wit in this dark comedy. The show originally debuted on Broadway at the Garrick Theatre in 1905, going on to enjoy revivals in 1907, 1918, 1922 and 1976.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see Jones on the Rialto for the first time since 2006’s Faith Healer, as well as the rest of a talented cast and they revive a rarely seen work by a master dramatist.
